Question Skinning engine

I am currently looking for an open source (preferrably multi-platform) skinning engine. I would prefer one that was something like the DirectUser Engine from Microsoft (the one used for folder sidebars and MSN messenger) and if it was possible to also use native widgets (for example it could use wxWidgets under the hood). I want it to work with Linux/GTK2, Win32 and OSX.
I realize that there is probably isn't such a thing, but what's the nearest match?
