shredding data from the inode and file system completely in fat4

to obtain the inode of the file root@bt:~/Desktop/abc# ls -li total 4 287685 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 601 2013-05-31 09:09 test

to check the content on that inode

root@bt:~/Desktop/abc# istat /dev/sda1 287685 inode: 287685 Allocated Group: 35 Generation Id: 1866894116 uid / gid: 0 / 0 mode: rrw-r--r-- Flags: size: 601 num of links: 1

Inode Times: Accessed: Fri May 31 09:09:31 2013 File Modified: Fri May 31 09:09:10 2013 Inode Modified: Fri May 31 09:09:31 2013

Direct Blocks: 127754

to save this data to a file from that i node

root@bt:~/Desktop/abc# blkcat -h /dev/sda1 287685 >out

shredding the data root@bt:~/Desktop/abc# shred test when the data is shred and i open the file from the editor it contains shredded contents, but the problem arise when i open the content using blkcat command listed above. it contains the original data. I know the action of shred is some where in the journal entry and the file system has made a backup of it some where. I have google the question but didn't find any thing that works for me. i want the content from inode or any backup to be removed immediately in linux, now it is doing on the system restart.

The shred command works. Man shred. Filesystem doesn't matter hugely. Don't try using it on it's own filesystem without a working backup strategy from "The box does not recognise that as a hard disk" type errors. With FAT, there's 2 fats. If you find the info there a problem, you'll have to shred them too.
