Programming guide for u32 filter packet classifier

I want to implement an efficient hash function to store five tuple flow values. I am going through the code of u32 packet classifier in kernel to make use of the same. I had hard time understanding the hash calculation and storing of nodes.

Is there any e-book or programmer's guide available for this?
