afaik, conio is a dos header, not a unix one. the same is not true for stdio.h, but you need to show more information about your actual situation, there will surely be more than just that. what happens if you try a real simple gcc compile direct from the command line to include it?

On most systems, the usual include files are in /usr/include. Do you have them or are they missing. The command locate stdio will reveal the location. On my slack box:
Code:
wim@btd-techweb01:/$ locate stdio.h
/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.6/i486-linux/CORE/nostdio.h
/usr/src/linux-2.4.29/arch/ppc/boot/include/nonstdio.h
/usr/src/linux-2.4.29/arch/ppc/xmon/nonstdio.h
/usr/src/linux-2.4.29/arch/ppc64/xmon/nonstdio.h
/usr/include/bits/stdio.h
/usr/include/glib-2.0/glib/gstdio.h
/usr/include/stdio.h
/usr/include/libgsf-1/gsf/gsf-infile-stdio.h
/usr/include/libgsf-1/gsf/gsf-output-stdio.h
/usr/include/libgsf-1/gsf/gsf-outfile-stdio.h
/usr/include/libgsf-1/gsf/gsf-input-stdio.h
