I am using scripts for WinCE to show a popup menu and chose what I want run or go in a sub menu with a click.
In Linux, there is any option to do something similar only with scripts without additional software install?
Depends on desktop but there are several choices. The most basic is dialog which requires ncurses. xdialog and zenity are gtk based and kdialog for KDE desktop.
What is installed by default depends on the distribution. dugan posted a few others while was typing.
zenity requires a desktop and since you mentioned Yocto I assume your device does not have a desktop or is not based on gtk. Try dialog which is based on ncurses.
There is Poky (Yocto) version. I did't build it, it is system running in a unit and I want build a menu for chose different scripts for run on it.
That's way I asked for script without additional software to install.
