Found a little time today to play with interactive rebase. Used it to clean up the history of an old project of mine. Thanks for the pointers guys.

Good news. There is a tool which can help a lot (at least I like it). Called meld.

"meld" looks like a very diverse and interesting tool – good for more than just version-control. Thanks for pointing it out.
