I was trying Linux as a user but iŽd like to deploy a server just like apache or like courierpass that uses Xinet service. Can any body send me a link on where to start?
Thank you very very much in advance for your help.
Most major distros let you choose your install type when you install the os. You can usually choose things like minimum install, workstation, server, or everything.
The server install will usually contain Apache and many other server packages so they will already be installed when you boot up the first time.
The distro I am currently using is Mandriva 2006. It has Xinet available to be installed. Concerning how to really understand how to confugure and run it, you will probably have to resort to reading from several different sources. Unfortunately, many of the how-tos and manuals are not newbie friendly, and you may have to resort to coming back here.
Here is a link to the Apache web server home page. I've been using Apache for a while on linux, it works great.
Thanks for your help, but what i realy need is some kind of links to develope server like applications such as courier or apache or courierpass, the last one is just a simple script that call other scripts over TCP conexion.
I know how to install many packages but like a newbie user, but i want to migrate to development, because i am realy interested on this phase of linux.
