my own package managment?
hiho@ll
Q1: how can i prog my own package managment?
which libraries are helpful, how could it work?
what i want:
i thought about this:
to do a simple package management it should be enough to know which files changed in the file system: update, delete, add
look at this:
./configure
make
make install
it's a very simple and "standard" way of installation of a prog on linux
so how can i do a package managment which will be able to do
1. backup files before they are replaced? (should i use my own 'mv', 'cp','rm' progs?)
2. save which files are changed how (file xxx removed, changed, created)
using this i could do my own package management which will be able to restore the system state before the installation
Q2: how can i do this? is FAM a possibility? (don't know how it works, and i don't think it could notifiy me if a file should be removed so i can backup the file and let 'rm' do its work)
Q3: is there a prog which can do this already? (rpm isn't a good option, because using rpm i have to use SPEC files to create my rpm package, so it's really hard)
