modify wireless driver


hey guys,
i want to implement a new security protocol on the access point and client for my thesis.i have build an access point on linux using D-Link DWL-650 (pcmcia,prism2 chipset).i have installed pcmcia_cs,hostap_cs as well(latest version).so the AP is up n running,but i would'nt have a clue as to how to go about implementing this new protocol.which files will i need to edit?has anyone tried doing this before??
