MingW and Windows Libraries

Has anyone got MingW to link with the Windows platform libraries (more specifically the Direct X ones)? I've already searched other websites, but most of the imformation deals with older versions of MingW. I'm using the latest bundled version of MingW (3.1.0-1) and the latest version of Microsoft Platform SDK (from February 2003 I think). I'm also using Direct3D 8 from the dx9sdk.

Everything compiles OK, but when I link, I get a bunch of unresolved externals from libd3dx8.a (which I made by running reimp on d3dx8.lib and rebuilding the archive with ar). If I remember correctly, the versino of d3dx8.lib that comes with dx9sdk has to be linked with the flags /NODEFAULTLIB:libci for Microsoft's compiler, so maybe that's a problem.

Any I ideas on what the problem is?

Also, is it possible to get Eclipse/CDT to integrate with Microsoft's free Visual C++ Toolkit compiler and WinDbg programs? I've gotten it to work with the compiler but that requires a custom made makefile. Is CDT ever going to support it?

Thanks for any help,
Yale
