LMC wants his own graphical system!

Hello,

I am making my own Linux distro, LMC (Linux Media Center) and it would be handy to make it have a graphical interface. I already thought or some thingies, but it would be cool if it had things that look like the Windows XP version of Media Center.

Ever seen the Windows XP login screen? It doesn't really have a background etc. Its like a forground-layer only (where a background is a background-layer). Thats what I want the LMCGS (Linux Media Center Graphical System).

Is it legal to download the KDE / GNOME sources and then modify them to my own graphical system?

Thanks,
DaZjorz
