Linux based IDE for C++

I'm taking an intro to programming class at my college and our teacher has basically told us to use a text editor for coding. We are compiling in solaris, so I'm not too woried about compatability if I do my practice on Linux.

Does anybody have a good idea for a IDE that works for C++? I have heard of Kdevelop but I'm running Xfce, so I'm not sure if those two would be compatable.

You can use kdevelop from xfce. Also, eclipse has a C++ plugin, just look on their site. http://www.eclipse.org/cdt/

I'll give a vote for Eclipse CDT. We're using it at work for C programming on RH linux. There's a little learning curve, but if you're used to other IDEs, and are familiar with make, it's not too difficult.
