i was expirementing on my chromebook....

long story short i read a (not so informative) totorial about installing windows on a chromebook....i thought i could do it myself and accidently deleted the chrome OS, after about a week of searching i couldnt find a way to revert it, so i decided to install Ubuntu i wound up running out of room, so i tried it a second time, this time i clicked overwrite the existing data, and i got ubuntu working, everytime i turned it on it said a warning about efi having 100 bytes remaining (or something similar to that) then i got the same error but instead it said 0 bytes remaining. now it doesnt start ubuntu and when i try to launch it it lists a line of commands (?) and stops, and starts saying lvmetad is missing or not available....now i am running a live version of bodhi on a sd card to write this....

so i guess my question would be this, what would the best linux os be for me to use in my current situation? i considerd trying to install something like DSL but couldnt figure out how to make the bootable usb i used UNetbootin with its iso file and it didnt work...any suggestions at this point would be welcome xD thanks in advance i guess

update--i was able to get ubuntu to boot now but id still like to know if there are any small linux OS that would work well on a chromebook

I would try GalliumOS first as it is custom made to run on ChromeBook hardware.

Page to find the version for your Chrome book:
https://wiki.galliumos.org/Hardware_Compatibility

Download page once you find the version you need
https://galliumos.org/download

I would contact the manufacturer for instructions to restore it to factory settings.

Then you will have a fully functional Chromebook, and you can calmly learn about Linux in your leisure time as a side project.

Had you already placed your Chromebook in developer mode?
What make and model is your Chromebook?
What OS and what program are you using to create the boot disk on?
Have you tried a different flash drive?

Snowpine had a good idea as well to get you going in the meantime.

yes, my chromebook had been in developermode, i was running linux through crouton before i deleted the chromeOS.
its a lenovo chromebook n22, i currently have Ubuntu running on it

i managed to make the bootable usb with etcher, UNetbootin and multisystem wouldnt let me make it. but now it doesnt let me install the gallium os from the live usb, when i click install i get to about step 4 where it asks to make a password i click next and all it does is load. sorry if im making more problems

OK, I looked up the N22, and it requires new firmware to be flashed in order to install GalliumOS.

https://wiki.galliumos.org/Hardware_Compatibility
https://wiki.galliumos.org/Installing/Preparing
https://wiki.galliumos.org/Firmware

You will need the MrChromeBox firmware for your Broadwell CPU
https://mrchromebox.tech/

However, it looks like you would have to reinstall the factory Chrome OS in order to update the firmware.

I would try the reddit.com page as well as the GalliumOS IRC for further assistance as I am sure someone there has run into a similar issue.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GalliumOS/

https://wiki.galliumos.org/Community

Good luck! GalliumOS is the best Linux distro I have tried on my Chromebook!

I would re-flash the MrChromebox firmware,
download the Braswell version of GalliumOS (https://galliumos.org/download - click the blue Braswell button)
Follow the directions here: https://wiki.galliumos.org/Installing
You also have the choice of dual-booting with the chrx script instructions on the same page

Good to go!
According to the GalliumOS site, bluetooth should be good to go on yours.
If not I would post a question on https://www.reddit.com/r/GalliumOS/.

The audio looks like it may depend on what audio chip you have:
https://github.com/GalliumOS/gallium...tro/issues/270
Open a terminal and type lspci to see which audio chip you have.
After reading that link though it looks like they have a fix in the works.
