howto: Perl CGI, image with random scewed text for accoutn creations
I am writing some web stuff in perl-CGI, I need to have an accoutn registration page, I want to verify it is a real person and not a script the same way most sites do with an image containing random text that has been scewed so an OCR program cannot read it. I am wondering what the best way to accomplish this is.
P.S. I am a teacher, one of my students is blind, he informed me that many sites now also offer an audio alternative to the image, does anyone know about those as well?
As a general reply, I suggest considering the ImageMagick toolkit. A tutorial that may be of particular interest is http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/distorts/#wave. While I can't cite a specific reference, I am sure there are ready-made packages out there that do what you want. The buzzword used to describe this technology is 'captcha', and a Google search should turn up lots of useful hits.

Thank you, took em a while but I was able to find the term captcha in another forum, I found a perl module that does the graphical part. However I am still looking for an option for those who need accessibility options such as the blind.
