The question does not have to be directly related to Linux and any language is fair game.

Hello, im starting to study linux, and i would like to know if the vi editor is the best choice for php programing on linux, or there are other options.
It depends.
Vi has a very steep learning curve for beginners, but in my opinion is the best choise since it is a powerful editor.
You can also try emacs or gui-based editors.
The best one is whatever you find more satisfying/productive/easy/interesting/ubiquitous/beautiful/.... Everyone has their own preferences. Try a few, and make your own choice. vi is an editor that anyone using Linux extensively should know, but it might not be the best for PHP programming.
