GVim partially obscured by lower panel

Hi

Title says it all really. GVim starts up in windowed mode and when maximised the bottom bit is covered by the panel, doesn't happen if I run Vim from the console, can someone tell me how to fix it?

Thanks

Eric

Could just be a bug. There is a setting that allows an app to cover the panel, in KDE. What desktop are you using ?

Sorry (Duh!) I should have said that I'm running Ubuntu Hardy 64bit using Gnome, I guess it's just a GVim setting but as a new user I've no idea how to change it. I've never come across this problem with any other program.

I don't want it to cover the panel, I just want it to behave like all others and maximise to fill the available screen which is to the top of the panel.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm not a gnome guy, but in kde, the setting I'm thinking of wouldn't be in gvim, it would be in kde, system settings. Does gnome have that setting ?

The window isn't covered by the panel, the window looses it's bottom border when maximized, only a thin line lasts, so it only seems like the window gets covered.
You can try it out yourself, just enable "Autohide" for your bottom panel (right-click on panel > "Preferences" > "Autohide" = Checked), then you'll see it.

The window does seem to be covered by the panel as when I issue commands you can only see the very top of the text (in my case error messages :-) if I move the panel the covered area of GVim is visible. If it was a Gnome setting wouldn't it apply to all programs and not just GVim?

Thanks
