GUI programming in C++

I am sort of new to C++ (I have used java a lot which is similar) what I was wanting to know was if there was a way to program GUIs in C++ the way you can in java using swing packages. And if there is can someone tell me what packages / libraries are needed, and where to get them. Also if you could give me some short source code examples or a website with tutorials on it, that would be great. Thank you.

For C++ I'd recommend the Qt libraries.

Get the Qt libraries from your distribution. For slackware 9.1 the package is called "qt-3.3.2-i486-1". In case you don't have it already, get it here: ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackwar...3.2-i486-1.tgz

Qt's doc's and tut's may be included in the slackware package, I'm not sure (I use debian). If not, check the online doc's at: http://doc.trolltech.com/3.3/index.html
Under the heading "Getting Started", there are two "tutorial" links, which are quite good.
