I'm a java programmer, and I've never programmed in C++, but by looking at the code it doesn't seem so different. Anyways I need to create a gui for a program my father wrote in C. If anybody has any suggestions as where I should get started whether it be books or websites, I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks.

you may want to check out kdevelop, it has wizards that will build the basic gui for you.

Thanks for your reply. I want to code it all myself though. I don't particularly want to use an IDE. I know that this is going to take some work, but I'm willing to do it.

Red face Use QT Library

Hello,

Well, i would advise that if you want to hardcode, by ur self, then ,use QT library for c++.

Using this library, you will get to know the c++ api's that can help you in building a gui interface.

In order to learn QT, you can use a book written by O,Reielly, or you can study the documentation of QT, whichis present in Kdeveloper.

with best regards

THanks in adbvance for help.

iffidear,

I'm pretty new to the subject but from what I understand, you could use the QT libraries which someone pointed out to me, or you could use gtk+. I no very little about each though.

QT by O'Rielly

Hello iffi and olevan,

well, olevan is right, the best u can learn is to go thru the documentation given in the kdeveloper of KDE about QT. Moreover, if anyone is interested in pursuing it, he/she can read the book QT by O'rielly.

You can also visit the QT oficial site

http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/prowqt/

with best regards
