I know the fetchgmail script works because I get the output
0 messages (0 seen)
The numbers are not correct. Currently I have two messages in my inbox (both unread).
I tried to run the perl script with a bogus username and it says that it cannot log into the account, therefore I assume it is logging into my account (when I put in the right username), but not retrieving the correct number of messages.
The link is broken so I'm not sure what you're trying to do.
Assuming you want gkrellm to check for new messages on your gmail account, add a pop3 mailbox to gkrellm with the gmail pop server settings described here:
Assuming you want gkrellm to check for new messages on your gmail account, add a pop3 mailbox to gkrellm with the gmail pop server settings described here:
In the gui gkrellm configuration (right click on a running gkrellm instance) go to Builtins > Mail, check the "remote" radio button, fill in the server info (the gmail link from my previous post) and hit "add".
That's it!
You can also tell gkrellm your mail-reading app so it will launch when you click the message indicator.
Ok, I configured Gkrellm as you said, but it says I have 325 messages? I currently have one message in my inbox and about 10 total. Why is it saying this?
Just as an FYI, when I delete my message (the one in my inbox), my count goes down from 325 to 324. I do not have any other mail accounts set up in Gkrellm. I don't have a local mailbox either.
I ended up setting up Thuderbird and checking the mail that way. Once I read all the messages (the 325 messages were all the messages I have ever received) the gkrellm mail panel worked. The only problem is now it says I have 0 new messages out of 0. That's not a problem for me because I only care about new messages.
I got it working without the hundreds of messages problems you guys have been describing. When enabling POP in the gmail settings, if you specify "only allow POP on email from now on" (or something like that) instead of on all email, you will only see the new messages.
