Are there Redhat subroutines = VxWorks?

Hello, I have an Ada 95 program that I am presently compiling on the MAXAda 3.3.3 compiler (Redhat Linux 6.0). This program is usually compiled on a VxWorks platform. I have numerous and various PRAGMA Imports calls to Vxworks subroutines such as "hostGetByName", "errnoGet", and "taskIsSuspended" just to name a few. My question(s) is, does Redhat have similar VxWorks subroutines? If so, then I have a VxWorks reference manual that lists all the subroutines, does Redhat have similar documentation?

Thanks for any input.

As far as an Ada 95 compiler for Redhat, your best bet is GNAT:

http://www.gnu.org/software/gnat/gnat.html

As far as what pragmas and packages you're accustomed to on vxWorks that you'd also have under GNAT - I honestly don't know.

'Hope that helps .. PSM

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, I do not have the authority to choose which compiler I want to use. Guess I have to keep climbing the ladder.

If you had the MAXAda 3.3.3 Ada compiler for vxWorks, MAXAda had a package with public calls like "errnoGet", and you're now running MAXAda 3.3.3 Ada on RedHat - the odds are actually pretty good you've got the same package with the same calls under Redhat. They might be implemented completely differently, but that should be transparent to your code.

Have you actually tried compiling yet under Redhat? Were all the packages you expected to find actually there? Did you get a clean compile?

The main discriminant is really the compiler, NOT the underlying platform.

And, all things being equal, if your platform is "Linux" and your language of choice is Ada, then in general you'd certainly take a look at GNAT Ada...
