about time and date


hi all

our machine showing date and time.
from where it is showing, is there any file in that system that save date and time.
if we change the date and time where it is storing.

hi,

The date and time is coming from your System clock in the BIOS.

It's stored in-kernel, so there's no file involved. When the machine shuts down, it sets the hardware clock on the motherboard to the current kernel time and when the machine startus up, the kernel gets the time from the hardware clock and starts keeping track of it again itself.

There is a 'drift' file for NTP, but that only stores the amount by which the kernel clock tends to differ from NTP time.
