Maybe this makes it easier... if I connect to google's IP in firefox (216.239.57.99) it comes up no problem!!

I'm just missing something with DNS even though my router is set up as DHCP and so is this MEPIS box...

That is weird ..
if your Windows boxs are getting
dns info then why not the Linux box..
that doesn't make sense..

an your wifi card is getting an IP from the router..

double check all your settings on your wireless router to make
sure your dns in set in the DHCP server that is
giving out IPs..

in the mean time..
an easy fix
statically set your IP and dns and gateway..
this will get you going..
the gw will be the wireless router and the
dns you already have.. should work since you
do have connectivity ..

You can do this in the OS Control Center..

Wow, finally got it working! Thank you for all your help. I was on IRC and someone suggested that the 192.168.0.1 dns server didn't make sense being that that's my router. I went to my ISP's website found 2 name servers local to me, and that was the problem.

For some reason, DHCP in MEPIS needed those inputted manually, while in windows DHCP, I never needed them. I'm so glad I have this working, in fact right now I'm posting from this machine

Thanks again.
