Hello, I'm running Manjaro 19.0.2 KDE Plasma on a Lenovo Ideapad 110 laptop. Everything was going fine, until I insalled the 469 updates which Manjaro prompted me to install. I got a black screen saying:
The screen locker is broken and unlocking is not possible anymore. In order to unlock switch to a virtual terminal(e.g. Ctrl+Alt+F2),
loginctl unlock-session 2
Afterwards switch back to the running session(Ctrl+Alt+F1).
I managed to return to the desktop, following the instructions from the black screen. After that I tried to restart and shut down, but both function wouldn't work, so I forced shut down, by holding the power button. When I turned the laptop back on, Manjaro wouldn't boot after grub. I searched the forums, but didn't find a solution anywhere. I reinstalled Manjaro and now it works, but I haven't installed updates yet, because I fear the same will happen. Any ideas on why this might be happening?
How did you update? With pacman -Syu
Any errors in pacman.log?
I updated with 'Add or remove software installed on the system'. When I try to install Pacman log viewer, it prompts me to install 1.4GB of other stuff.

Also what video hardware do you have, and what kernel module is loaded for it.

A rolling release might not be ideal for a new user. It works ok but there are always little problems. There have been quite a few black screen after update problems of late with Intel and AMD. As an experienced linux user, you solve them and move on.
Look at the arch forum and see if there have been any issues with your video hardware and how they were solved.

I don't know what your graphical software thing is doing, but that is a partial update and will break your machine, maybe. Don't run pacman -Sy <package>. That updates pacman's database and then does not update everything. The next time you run pacman -S <package> you are installing a newer package from the new database on a machine that does not match it.
