Question Manjaro will not Boot

Hello,

After the last update, manjaro will not boot properly.

Although I see some icons, the background is black and the icons are not active.

I need to remove the current update and re-install it.

At present, I am using a live pendrive (older version of manjaro) to connect to the internet.

When using the pendrive, I can use mhwd to access a terminal (via a second terminal) which operates on the harddrive and maintains my internet connection.

In this terminal, when I type sudo pacman -Sc. I remove the cache. But when I type sudo pacman -Syyu in the hope of installing a new upgrade, I get the message 'nothing to do'.

Advice please

Thanks

PS. manjaro is the only OS on the hardrive

unclear.
terminal inside terminal???
what's 'mhcd'?
are you somehow chrooting into your manjaro install?
and why do you need to do that to "maintain your internet connection"? is that even part of the problem?

can't you just boot into recovery mode instead?
early boot => hold down Shift => grub menu => choose one of the recovery options

Thank you for responding.

After using mhwd (manjaro hardware daemon) a terminal is created that lets me communicate to the harddrive (from the live pendrive). Yes, it maintains the intent connection.

How can I boot into recovery mode, remember I am using manjaro.
You say I need hold down shift (is this the only key), then access grub, and look for recovery. I will try this.

Best wishes.
