xorgconfig; wrong choice won't allow me to use X

I have gone to whole new levels with screwing up my computer! I ran xorgconfig remotely, came home, and it didn't work!

Anyway, I ran xorgconfig because after I use X and log out, I can't get back in. I did it remotely, although I doubt that makes much of a difference. When I came home, I discovered that my screen was completely blank, so I turned off the computer. When I turned it back on, gdm didn't show up, in its place, I can't connect to X server or something like that.

I think it is because I chose the wrong video card, I have intel integrated graphics. I chose linux-something, it's number 16 in the list. Can anyone help, or do I have to figure this out on my own (since this is a relatively individual thing).

I suggest you switch to runlevel 3, then run xorgconfig as root. Make sure that you know the details of your graphics card this time round. When you have finished test your configuration by running startx. Post any errors. If your configuration is successful, then go back to runlevel 5 and GDM should start.
