Question xine for all vido formats


hey guys i'm trying to get xine to play windows meda videos but it's just not playing even after i installed the w32.codec rpm i got off xine's site. is there any tweeking to be done?

use mplayer instead. refer to it as xine if you want.

i dont recall seeing mplayer in the list of video players, is it on the mandrake disks or do i have to get it from a site

the one that comes with mandrake might be crippled.

I think it was from the 4th cd, I've forgotten. www.linuxshop.co.nz is selling the 4 cd set.

ok, i think mplayer is better anyways, i couldn't tell because my frikkin laptop has gone to Toshiba for various issues LOL it would be funny if they come back telling me "we cannot repeair your laptop and warranty is void because Toshiba strongly reccomends Microsoft Windows XP!"

but yea, when i get it back i'll possibly install mplayer from my club iso's!

Install the mplayer from PLF. plf.zarb.org. It plays more (proprietary) formats.

mplayer and xine lib don't have anything to do with each other

just got my laptop back... Mplayer is way better than Xine, I could even play .wma format music with it out the box :-) thanks guys
