wine(x) from suse to mandrake

i was able to run deus ex just fine in winex3 under suse 9.0, using the program's OpenGL renderer and if i wanted, the software render mode. but under mandrake 10, things re different. the game installs, but doesnt play in anything but software, and even then, i get no sound for some reason. i noticed sound never worked onder KDE, so i switched to fluxbox (this was on suse 9). everything worked., but now, on mandrake, the game runs as smooth as ever, but still no sound, even under fluxbox.

what's different in mdk10 that causes this change in winex3?
