Question Wine on SuSE 9.1


does anyone know how to install wine on SuSE 9.1 and to make it work?

I've donlot the newer version of wine (wine20050211+wine-devel)....so what I must to do with that?

please teach me step by step to install 'n to make it work

thanx a lot

Boot up and log into KDE as root.

Launch Konqueror and browse to the directory where you saved the Wine rpm. (As long as it was a SUSE rpm)

Just click on it and it installs.

Then logout and log back in with your normal user account.

There is a VERY good HowTo for it on the winetools web site. Check it out at http://www.von-thadden.de/Joachim/WineTools/#download (why reinvent the wheel here when there is a very good howto already?)

Try that and post back if you have any problems.

oo...almost forget....do I need to remove old Wine that have been installed on my SuSE?

silly question....can SuSE 9.2 automatically launch wine? (don't have to configure)

You should remove any existing instance of wine before installing a new one.

You can launch wine easily by either associating *.exe files with /usr/bin/wine or you can write a shell script to launch each windows app you want to be accessible, and just click on the shell script. FYI if you use winetools to install your applications, it will create a shell script for each app in ~/bin.
