hello,
when i first started mandriva 10.1 64 bit i could view all the hard drives on my pc(including win xp-yuck) now the file viewer is gone. Any idea`s ?
You may want to make a link for konqueror on the desktop. Just right-click you desktop. On the dialog write "konqueror" as the command line, put the name and the icon and it´s done.
hello,
i canot view hard drives or thier contents at all....i dont know what i have done but can you help. T o explaine fully...its similar to mirosoft`s explorer or even my computer file viewer...all i can see are files, but no hard drives.....my cd/dvd drive is on the desktop but thats it....help please ...thanks...lol.
Assuming (for the sake of discussion) that you are using Konqueror as your "MS-Windows Explorer replacement", you will not see any "hard drives". In Linux, all drives are "mounted" to the root file system (usually under /mnt), and are not visible as separate entities. You need to know where (and IF) the drive is mounted, and then look in that directory.
As sekelsenmat said, by default, your Windows partition is found in /mnt/windows.
If this doesn't answer your question, please explain in more detail.
Take a look at the program KDiskFree (Kicker -> System -> Monitoring). It will show you a list of all of your partitions. If the drive you are looking for isn't mounted, mount it by right clicking on the partition and selecting mount. Then right click on it and select open in filemanager.
