Trouble configuring hardware during install

After installing Linux (Mandrake 9.2 I believe) I come to the finishing configuration page. In the video configuration settings, I click 'test' and it says an error has occurred. I have a Powercolor Radeon 9600 Pro. I tried selecting ATI Radeon from the video card list but it gave me the same error. It seems no matter what I select it refuses to find it.

Same thing happens with my ethernet card. I have an on-board Asus Nforce2 ethernet card. It seems to detect it (and asks me if I have another one) and I say 'no'. But then it says 'Could not find ethernet device. Can not set up this device'.

Are there drivers for this or is the hardware just not supported?

I expect that this problem will also apply to my sound card (Sound Blaster Audigy) if I tried to configure that as we.l...

I installed Red Hat and got the gui going but all the games ran EXTREMELY slowly so I assume that it was running on generic drivers, or in software mode.

Can anyone help with this?

I had the same problem (well, still do infact) with my Radeon 9800 pro. I was able to get the Mandrake GUI up and working with the vesa driver. It's under XFree. ATI has drivers up on their website that you can download and install. I'm trying to get them installed now, but having some problems.

I can't help you out at all with your other problems though.

Hopefully what I said made sense to you and will help. Good luck.

Alright. That's a bit of help anyway.

Though I can't get to the ATI site to dl the drivers because Linux can't recognize my ethernet adapter either -_-
