Problem with the modem. here the output..

edit: this is for a friend of mine running Mandriva SE2005 with way too many USB ports, lol (alienware system)

does anyone know how to sort this problem?

It may be that you have to uninstall the existing speedtouch package before running speedtouchconf. I think the error is something to do with modem_run already being called by another program. You also have to be aware when looking at the hardware list a message will come up stating that the speedtouch package must be re-installed which you can ignore.

its ok i got it sorted a while back, there was a bug in the speedtouch-init script.

Hi Skoby,

I'm running into exactly the same error while running speedtouchconf - can you be more specific about how you resolved it? I use linux at work, but I've only just made the switch from XP at home and the hardest thing I've run into so far is installing my modem! I've spent several evening trying to get it sorted and it's only sheer bloodymindedness that's keeping me from going and buying an ethernet ADSL router instead
