Exclamation Some Questions from a new user :)

Hi everyone,

I have switched to Mandriva one 2008 a week ago, and it looks really cool.

and as a former Windows user I start looking for programs alternetives, I was satisfied with all these programs and happily start getting use to it .

untill the day I was in need for an HTML Editor.. that is camperable to Adobe Dreamweaver.. and I found the Quanta and it looks really good.

But after downloading it, It said that some components are required.. like gcc.. cc.. cl..

- from where could I download these components? and how can I install them?

- why don't programs come with all needed libraries and components??

Thank you

Your distro will have packages of the needed software.

Find out what Mandriva uses as it's package manager and install them from there.

Why not just open a term, su to root, the urpmi quanta? That will install quanta and any required deps.

Have you set up software repositories? If not go to:

http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/

and set them up. It's best not to use the backports and testing repos until you are more familiar with Mandriva.

Pebcak..

I am not much familiar with linux therefore, I did what you said.. but I am sue I did it wrongly..

I switched to root.. then simply typed "urpmi quanta" from quanta directory

And I am sorry very much for being not clear.. [sometimes smart ppl like me, thinks that everybody knows his case ].. so I do not give more clarification about it

And after visiting easyurpmi.zarb.org I went through 4 steps and a list of command was given.. and I past/copy them into my Konsole

That's it

Thank you very much dear Pebcak
