Question Questions from a new user

Hi, I just ordered linux. I was wondering if all my drivers and stuff from windows will transfer over. Can I play my games on it if they are windows compatible? Or do I need to get all new stuff?

Windows games are kinda tough to set up in linux. You need to get and compile wine. for some games you will need to apply the D3D9 patch. You can do this easy with the WineCVS script. It can be downloaded from linux-gamers.net. Your windows drivers will certainly not work with linux. Multibutton mouses are a pain in the A$$ to get working in windows games(I still haven't done it). Cedega makes windows games alot easier, but it is a commercial product(meaning you have to pay for it). Linux does have decent drivers, but not the amount of vendor support you get with windows. A tip of advice: don't delete your windows partition right away. Alot of your programs won't work instantly with wine and may require hours of dedicated hacking.
