problems with Xscreensaver

I've been having a bit of problems with Xscreensaver after installing Mandrake 10.1. I've googled around a bit and searched the forums, and everytime someone else had this problem there was no final real solution to fix it that i was able to find.

Currently, a number of my screensavers, including the Slide Show and StarWars screen savers, are not working at all. In the preview screen they show blank, I can not test or setup on either of them. I have tried removing Xscreensaver and installing an older version, but still no luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

is there an .xscreensaver file in your home directory??

if not , you can get one here...............
http://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/

this file should start out like this........
Code:
# XScreenSaver Preferences File
then they should show up and work from the KDE screensaver menu............I even added the really slickscreensavers that I compiled seperately to this file and they also show up in the KDE menu...............

I'm not sure what you're talking about. I installed the rpm over again... but i have no .xscreensaver file in my home directory.

EDIT: Ok change that... I'm using the xscreensaver demo program right now to mess around with it. Every time i start it up, however, it tells me that xscreensaver is not running on 0:0 right now, and asks me if i'd like to turn it on. Does that simply mean the program is not running in the background correctly?

EDIT 2: Well it seems that the Xscreen saver screen savers are working, but some of the other ones are not... why would that be?

Well I can't even quite test it. Nothing show up in the preview.

I'll try this update though... but how do I do it? I don't have the automastic thing runnin because this is a free version, though I plan on buying it eventually if i can make this run alright.

Where do i go to simply download the dmg? (newb, obviously)
