Hello all:

Well I installed Mandriva last week. This is my first time playing with Linux since about '97 and am glad to get back into it. Things have changed a lot since then. Anyways.

I have a little problem with the trash can on the desktop top. When I drag and drop an item into it, the icon appears over the trash can for around a minute before removing it. During the time it is frozen you can not navigate through any of the file folders, however other applications still work, and you can navigate the filesystem in a terminal. I've tried restarting the XServer and rebooting, and have the same problem under Gnome of the KDE. Not quite sure what is wrong, and not sure where to start looking either. Any input would be appreciated.

Did u use Mandriva 2006.0 ? Did u do a full install?

Yes I used 2006.0, and yeah I did a full install. It worked just fine for the first day or so, then it started acting up. I suppose it isn't a huge deal, i can remove files from a terminall, but it would be nice for it to work.

Just a thought Look for and stop or uninstall Kat it works in the background and you may have inadvertently turned it on sucking your processor to death
