Hi, try using the + and - keys when that happens.

This should adjust the res up or down, give it a second to produce the results.

see how you go.

We may need more info, like kernel (type uname -a) and graphics card type, etc.

regards Glenn

Question The problem persists

thanks for the reply......but + and - didn't work. The kernel is 2.6.29 and i don't have any graphics card. I have a intel 845 chipset motherboard. I think it does not support any graphics card, only inbuilt graphics architecture.

I tried to reinstall but the installation was not proper because many packages were skipped during installation due to some error. and now it boots only into a command prompt. My problem is getting serious (I am making it serious and complex....i think)

Hoping to get help

What were the errors during install?

Did you check the .iso with md5sum before burning, and was the burn verified?

Regards Glenn

Hi, kde4 have a Mandriva repository, (sounds backwards, lol).
kde3.5.10 is stable.

You can add the kde4 repos to your rpm database with urpmi commands.

like this....
Code:
sudo urpmi.addmedia --update KDE4.3_x86_64 http://kde.c3sl.ufpr.br/stable/4.3.0/Mandriva/2009.1/x86_64/media/kde43/ with media_info/hdlist.cz
sudo urpmi.addmedia --update KDE4.3_noarch ftp://ftp.twaren.net/Unix/X/KDE/stable/4.3.0/Mandriva/2009.1/noarch/media/kde43/ with media_info/hdlist.cz
sudo urpmi.addmedia --update KDE4.3_i586 ftp://ftp.twaren.net/Unix/X/KDE/stable/4.3.0/Mandriva/2009.1/i586/media/kde43/ with media_info/hdlist.cz
or go to easy-urpmi site and follow the directions there....
Code:
http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/
btw, kde4.3.1 is due out soon.

sometimes magazine cd's have bad pressings, but it is the luck of the draw.

regards Glenn

KDE-4.3.1 for Mandriva is available now. Check out the KDE ftp server of your choice in the stable branch, it is at:

stable/4.3.1/Mandriva/2009.1/x86_64/media/kde43

for the x86_64 architecture, and at:

stable/4.3.1/Mandriva/2009.1/i586/media/kde43

for the i586 architecture.

These are unofficial packages, and Mandriva's package manager complains about no (or invalid) signatures, but I think they are OK to use since they come from the official KDE ftp server. They are specifically packaged for use with Mandriva, and I have had no problems here. There are a significant number of bugs fixed since KDE-4.2.x.

HTH,
