ping pong dong

Hi there!
Have been trowing Mandrake Fedora and redhat in and out of my computer the last days. Thats why the stupid subject.
What i want to do has been working out best in Mandrake, but an aplication i wanted to use that i didn't get to work where ping my Mandrake dist from my other local computer both behind a Router. But when i booted my windows dist on the same computer as the Mandrake dist it was feasible to ping the machine. I didnt have any problems browsing the internet. And in the securrity center i had enabled the ping possibility. I want to use the Mandrake machine with ssh.
This shouldent be a to big problem and probably it should have been much better to ask from the begining.
Just hoping there is some one how like to tell me to start all over again and put in Mandrake again

So you want to access ssh on your Mandrake machine over the local network? If so either enable ssh access in the firewall GUI in the Mandrake Control Centre or add the following to the /etc/shorewall/rules file and restart the shorewall service:
Code:
AllowSSH loc fw

Well is the Mandrake machine correctly connected to the network? If so try running this command (as root) whiel you're pinging it from the other machine:
Code:
tail -F /var/log/messages
If you can see messages from the firewall being logged then that's what's blocking the pings
