It's probably this part right here;

PHP Code:
You will need to edit the inittab file and the XF86Config-4 fileYou will need to edit the inittab so that you will boot into the command line not into the GUI or 'x'The inittab file is in the following location for Konquerorfile:/etc/inittab You should have root accessThe line you are looking for is "id:5:initdefault:"You will need to change the '5' to a '3'It should look like this "id:3:initdefault:. "This will get you to a text loginIt will be sort of like old DOSno pretty screens or anythingRemember this fileyou will need to change it back when you are doneOf course some leave it like this but that's up to you.
I will download it and attempt it, it kills me Josh hasn't posted whether or not it helped the TUX racer game. I mean that's how we all learn, by helping each other out.

You can download it here:

http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/se...mit=Search+...

It is really easy. Play with it in console first to make sure it works and you know how to use it. It tells on screen how to save and exit and such. I usually tell it to download to this location.

Code:
/home/<username>Desktop
That puts it on you Desktop. Replace <username> with what you login with. Mine is /home/dale/Desktop. Just click on it and put in root password for installer and click OK. Then go into console and type in

Code:
nano -w <filename>
Easy. Don't know why Mandrake don't put it on automatically.

I put it on mine and it works fine. You should have no problem using it.

Post back, I'll help walk you through it.

OK try this way. Skip the part about the inittab file and do the rest. Instead of rebooting go to a console terminal as root and type in

Code:
init 3
That will kill x and put you in command line. If the driver is in the /root directory then login as root and do this

Code:
cd /root
You can then type in ls <small L there> and it should be right there. If so type in

Code:
sh NVIDIA-Linux
and hit the tab key. It should fill in the rest for you then hit return and do the rest.

When you get that done type in startx just like it says. If x starts like it should and everything works correctly then either reboot ot go into a terminal again as root and type in

Code:
init 5
That will restart the services. You may not be able to connect to the net and such until you do that.

I would install nano just in case x doesn't start. All you need to do is change the driver back to "nv" and type in startx to see what went wrong.

Does this make sense? I though Gentoo was impossible until I started the install. Then it was nothing to it.

The reason it is not installed with the OS is that not everybody uses NVIDIA cards. Some don't use the driver at all. There are some that have to tweak the drivers to make the system stable to. I had to do that. A addition to the modules.conf and another that I can't remember at the moment.

Hope that helps. Post back if you need to.

Did you do the rebooting way or the way I posted above?

Just curious?

Glad you got it working. They will probably have a new one any day and you can do it again.

Thanks Josh and Dalek,

Josh do you think you can give an exact step-by-step on how you installed it?

As if someone never ever knew what they were doing.
