Thumbs down My account has no applications on the menu

Right, I just started using vncserver to access my computer from another one on my LAN. I managed to get the VNC server running at boot using the help I got in this thread http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...90#post2553790 .

Immediately I logged in to my admin account from the VNC it has no applications on the menu. Anyone got any ideas why this happened, or how to fix it?

The same goes for a local login with the same account, although all of the applications are present when logged in as root.

Shame the only application I can remember how to run from the CLI is the konsole .

Thanks

Xzi

Something similar to this happened to me earlier this year. Try running "kmenuedit" and when that opens, if your applications are in the list, just hit save, don't change anything. then restart X and log back in and see what it does.

Note: "kmenuedit" is for Mandriva 2007. If you are running 2006 (like I was at the time) use "menudrake".

If you have access to the command line, you can also try "update-menus -v".

Yay all the menus are back. Makes controlling a GUI much easier, thanks guys. The 'menudrake'command is what I tried first and that did the trick. Also big help to give me the command for both 2007 and 2006, I've downloaded 2007 but am yet to have a chance to install it.

Thanks to both of you
Merry Christmas
