Hi,
I am running Mandrake 10.0 and I have problems with mounting my external USB harddisk. It worked fine until a few days ago. But now I receive the message "mount: /dev/sda1 is not a valid block device" I do not know what has changed. I havenīt changed anything.
This is my fstab:
Code:
/dev/hda6 / ext3 defaults 1 1
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
/dev/hda8 /home ext3 defaults 1 2
/dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom auto umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec 0 0
/dev/hdd /mnt/cdrom2 auto umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hda7 swap swap defaults 0 0
# Floppy
/dev/floppy /mnt/floppy auto rw,noauto,user,sync 0 0
# disk c .. f
/dev/hda1 /mnt/win_c ntfs umask=0,nls=iso8859-15,ro 0 0
/dev/hda5 /mnt/win_d vfat umask=0,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850 0 0
/dev/hdb5 /mnt/win_e vfat umask=0,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850 0 0
/dev/hdb6 /mnt/win_f vfat umask=0,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850 0 0
# USB-disk
/dev/sda1 /mnt/usb_fp vfat umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-15,codepage=850,noauto 0 0
When I plug in the disk, following happens (from /var/log/messages):
Code:

Especially strange is that I can remove the USB harddisk line from the fstab and after the next booting the systems mounts the disk using supermount without problems. Furthermore the notification that scsimon cannot be found seems to be not relevant. It occurs also when supermount mounts the disk.
BTW: I inserted the USB disk line into the fstab because with this the data transfer is much faster than with using supermount.
Thank you for giving me hints
