Unhappy Mandrake slow web surfing

I have installed mandrake 10.0. I'm very happy with it except for one thing, it loads web pages very slow. I've compared Mandrake with windows 2000 and w2k is much faster. Is there anything I can do to improve web performance. I want to be FOB(Free of Bill)

Thanks

Dan

Check to make sure that you have a valid dns server in your /etc/resolve.conf file. For some reason, it put 127.0.0.1 first in mine which really slowed things down.

Actually I think you're having the same problem as many people with slow web surfing. It seems to stem from the fact that ipv6 is enabled. I had the same problem too but if you follow this guide, you can turn it off. See if that helps.

It says it's for Fedora Core 2, but it worked on Mandrake 10.1 too for me.

It's not a command that you put in there, it's your DNS server.
