Mandrake 9.2b2: Unable to find / launch Mandrake Control Center

Hi!

I've been using RedHat linux before, but having heard positive comments on Mandrake Linux I decided to give it a try. The version installed was Mandrake Linux 9.2b2.

However, I have a major problem with my Mandrake install: I am unable to find the Mandrake Control Center. There is no Control Center icon on the desktop, The 'Configuration' -menu does not provide a 'Mandrake Control Center' icon (neither on KDE nor Gnome), and running 'drakconf' on the command line gives an 'unknown command'.

Now, this is rather frustrating. Trying 'locate drakconf' or anything similar gives 'unknown command: locate'.

The packages chosen were more or less the default packages (IIRC) - presumably the Control Center woud give me an option for checking the packages but it's hard to tell since i am unable to launch it.

If anyone of you has run into similar problem and / or knows how to fix this, I'd appreciate your help.

Yours sincerely,
Henrik

Try as root typing "urpmi drakconf" in a terminal, no quotes. This should install drakconf for you.
