I have mandrake 10.1 comm. dual booted with Xpon my work laptop (dell 60m).
I tried to use mandrakeupdate to update my packages, but I got a update_source error.
How do I look for updates for all packages currently installed?
Is there a place to also get security updates?
Where would I look for firefox....fluxbox...(for example)?
Is there a Mandrake rpm or should I go from source.
I am just looking for the best way to do packages to keep it organized and easy to manage.
Other newbie questions
Is there a good sticky or tutorial for the dell trumobile 1400 wlan card?
Mandrake found my modem, but it is unable to locate in KPPP @ /dev/modem.
I would like to remove the apps I am not using. Is there an easy way to go about doing this? I don't need 3 mail apps-4web browsers.
I would like to customize theme and icons on KDE. Can someone recomend good site. I am guessing KDE-look. I would like to make kde customized(eye candy) superkaramba....
I would like to use fluxbox for real work.
I feel like a toll posting this, but I would like to make Mandrake work.
Only problems I have had with Mandrake on dell 600m is wireless, modem, updating...
Set it up to use 10.1 Official, then do an update. Get a cup of coffee, or something, because there are hundreds of packages that were updated since Community Edition was released. (CE is like a final public beta version, it is not really supported after the Official Edition hits the streets. )

I followed the steps and inputed all commands after su-ing to root. in terminal.
Everything looked Ok. no errors. I am guessing that means I am updated?

Kde-Look is a great website....I have used in the past for my slackware boot logo ..and wallpaper..
I am used to the <filename>......bz2 format.
But, I downloaded a couple theme rpm's to /home. I clicked on them. It looked like they installed, but I can't find them in the "Look n Feel" Style setup.
I apologize for posting such trivial questions. I just wanted to make it right so I can migrate my work laptop from XP to Mandrake 10.1.
First, if you have updates for KDE 3.3 and only run KDE 3.2, as it is default with 10.1
it seems good policy to avoid these ones. Same with Developping software you
don't need. I do not necessarily update all these.
i was more concerned with the security updates.
The "All" update is 773MB's.
I don't want to tie up company bandwith for that long.
I only have slow dial up at home.
I guess I could do it at work on the weekend.
Yeah, you really want *all* those security updates. The ones you see are the ones that correspond to the software you already have downloaded. E.g., if you are running KDE 3.2, you won't see KDE3.3 updates.
As for any other bugfixes/updates, it will be strictly your call.
