Have you set up your urpmi database to include texstar? If so, open a console, su to root and type:

urpmi kdebase-3.1.4

It will download all of the dependencies and install them, then you will have the new version.

If 3.1.4 is not available from texstar (I don't know if he's made the rpm's yet) then go for 3.1.3 instead. I know those are out.

The reason that I want a newer one is because KOQUERER tends to crash when dealing with a lot of file! aND IF i TRY TO UNCOMPREs a 300MB file in ARK the program will also hang!!

I can't help you with the konqueror issue right now. According to what I can see, texstar has no files for 3.1.4 yet. They will come soon, though.

As far as extracting the file and Ark freezing, why not try it from the command line? What type of file is it?

for tar.gz or .tgz files, use tar -xzvf filename.tar.gz
for zip files -> unzip filename.zip

3.1.4 is still beta but that's nothing

I know someone who is currently running KDE 3.2 alpha2 from cooker. That's bound to be more unstable than the releases they have currently.

IMHO you're better off doing that kind of thing from the command line.

Agreed! I just hate that they publish something not stable in LINUX which is very stable!
Why don't they just get their act together

Talking KDE 3.1.4 by TEXSTAR

TEXSTAR at www.pclinuxonline.com is building the 3.1.4 kde on special request by the many users. He is not ready yet. First we get an unstable one and he will (as he did for kde 3.1.3 with some specials in it!) update if there is reply on it.

A part is ready . . . . . . . .
