I am trying to install Oracle 9i on Mandrake 10.0 and when running installer I am getting an error message saying " Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /home/oracle/tmp/OraInstall2005-10-11_05-25-47AM/jre/bin/java. Please wait...
/home/oracle/tmp/OraInstall2005-10-11_05-25-47AM/jre/bin/i386/native_threads/java: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
I think I need to install some packages to get away with this error. Any one faced the same issue? Any help is really appreciated.
error: open of binutils-2.13.90.0.18-9.i386.rpm failed: No such file or directory
error: open of cpp-3.2.2-5.i386.rpm failed: No such file or directory
error: open of gcc-3.2.2-5.i386.rpm failed: No such file or directory
error: open of glibc-devel-2.3.2-5.i386.rpm failed: No such file or directory
error: open of glibc-kernheaders-2.4-8.10.i386.rpm failed: No such file or directory
Do I need to be in a specific directory to do this? Can I do the package install using GUI from Mandrake Install CD?
you can only use the rpm command directly on RPM files - you're getting that error because those RPMs you told it to install are not in the current directory.
Mandrake uses urpmi to get RPMs from package repositories. FIrst goto http://easyurpmi.zarb.org and set up access to the software repositories. Now use urpmi to install those packages:
I haven't installed 9i for a while, but I don't remember having any particular problems except for making sure that all the required packages were installed. You may need to edit /etc/redhat-release to read redhat-3 (or similar) - this is needed in 10g, but I'm not sure about 9i. If you do, change it back when the install is finished.
Edit:
Sorry, my previous post was misleading. compat-libstdc++ is the name of a package to be installed, not a command. I have corrected the post.
