Howto upgrade to KDE 3.2

I am really confused as to how to upgrade to KDE 3.2 on MDK 9.2. I tried urpmi but it wants to install everyting in the cooker directory. The gui complains that every package has a bad signature and can't be installed. This is frustrating. How do I upgrade KDE?

I tried urpmi for all the packages on cooker for KDE 3.2 except the international packages and a bunch of packages for 3.2 claim they conflict with packages from 3.1. I guess I will try konstruct. If anyone knows how to update KDE, please let me know.

Konstruct spent 3 hours installing KDE 3.2 and now I have a KDE-3.2 directory in root containing these directories:

bin/
doc/
etc/
files.kde
include/
info/
lib/
libexec/
man/
mkspecs/
phrasebooks/
plugins/
sbin/
share/
src/
templates/
translations/
var/

I have spent all day trying to get KDE 3.2 and still am running 3.1.3. I think Linux needs better upgrade options. This sucks!

I guess I'll just have to stick to 3.1.

Okay, so nobody here knows. If you are running Mandrake; first completely remove KDE 3.1 then install KDE 3.2 from cooker and you're good to go.

Later.

You're welcome. Man, what a frustrating trip that was!

KDE 3.2 is pretty sweet though.

Later.

I haven't had the guts to try 10 yet. Isn't it still pretty buggy? I might wait until 10.1 comes out before I get it. What do you think of 10 so far?

Here is another way:
Upgrade to KDE 3.2

I used this method and have had no problems.

For me v10 is great because it's SO much faster. As for the buggy part, as long as you have internet connection and can check (and install!) the updates, you should be fine.

3.2.1 is the one I just installed. You have to get it from Mandrake Cooker. They are RPMs. Just change your update source to the Cooker FTP site to install KDE 3.2.1 after removing KDE 3.1.

Good Luck,
Ted.

Okay, here's a question...

Is it possible to install KDE 3.2 from Mandrake 10.0 install media onto Mandrake 9.1? I've got 10.0, but didn't have sound, so dumped it, and put 9.1 on, which fixed sound. But now I'm ruined because KDE 3.1 really blows, and I want 3.2.

I'll fiddle about, but if someone's already invented this particular wheel...
