seubzero0, how are you trying to install (or how have you installed) gaim? The RPMs should help you figure out what else you need. Gaim has a Mandrake RPM of 0.75 on its Downloads page and there's also an updated version with a security fix available on Mandrake Secure.

I tried to install GAIM from the RPM but it says I am missing GTK 2.0.0 and I downloaded and installed and it still says I am missing the file wtf is going on. Do I need to edit where it looks for GTK?

How did you install GTK and how are you installing Gaim? Are you using rpm or urpmi? I would recommend urpmi to setup GTK correctly then download the newest -mdk rpm of GAIM from Mandrake Secure.

I'm also having a problem getting Gaim to work with Yahoo. I am on .75, the version that came on the distribution, and it doesn't work. Its fine with Aim and msn, just yahoo problems. How can I fix this, without confusing me please.

Urpmi is a program for downloading RPMs. As root, type urpmi packagename and that package should be downloaded.

Yahoo hasn't been working in GAIM lately. Hopefully it will work again in 0.76.

After installing the ssl packages i got msn to work perfectly. Thanks guys. Yahoo seems not to work no matter what i do. It seems this is something i cannot help as it is something a version upgrade from the developers is going to have to fix.

At least this means I'm not completely retarded. I have the feeling the guys at MandrakeExpert.com are getting tired of me, I've been asking a lot of questions there. Its really a good service.

Don't feel alone, I haven't gotten Yahoo to work with Gaim 0.75, Kopete or Ayttm, only one that works is Yahoo's official version of Yahoo messenger. Has some quirks in it like file transfer, but just regular plain chit chat it works. I've tried everything, and with all the other PM software it's the same problem, only Yahoo refuses to work. Wish I could get this to work with Wine, but that's even more hit or miss , hope the newer version fixes Yahoo.
