I've been trying to install Gaim 0.72 but everytime it failed. The error message was ""file /usr/lib/libgaim-remote.so.0.0.0 from install gaim 0.72-1 conflicts with files from 0.68".
Anyway I had unistalled the previous version. Then I deleted the files, folder, etc but that still occurs.
Being newbie as I am, I formatted everything, reinstalled MDK 9.2 without GAIM 0.68 installed. But when I tried to install 0.72 the same error message still occured..

First, you need to remove all gaim rpms from the system.
Once this is done you can then use urpmi and install both "gaim" and "gaim-devel"...Once the RPMs are removed and the new ones installed it should work for ya. Goodluck
I agree, you have to remove all dependencies related to Gaim. I installed Gaim 0.72 after removing the gaim rpm and another one which I think was libgaim of something like it. Just do a search with the word gaim in Mandrake's remove packages config. tool.
I am haveing the same problem. Ok first of all I am very new to Linux so how do I "find" all the dependicies to GAIM, and remove them? LOL I know that sounds n00bish but thats what I am. Please help.
