fcitx

Hi Mandrake 10 users
Have download fcitx from www.fcitx.org once but seem unable to download www.fcitx.org again
using Opera
Found I can cd to root fcitx-3.0.1 dir that was made
make clean or make && make in stall " No rule to make target clean"
Ls to installed fcitx dir and files show list of files
/debian is listed but not Mandrake
How do I download fcitx to install in Mandrake 10?
There are a number of gcc files required as well as Xfree86 so have installed some of them from Mandrake DVD disk
Any help with fcitx for Mandrake 10
Thanks
Maurice

fcitx

Hi xlongnu

Fcitx & oowriter now pos up on desktop.
The Penguin box is movable but on typing only empty boxes instead of chinese
Chinese characts appear in other popup with numbers for chinese in put
Type english but not chinese.
Do I realy have to rerinstall Mandrake?
Looks like some configuration still to be performed

Hi
fcitx & oowriter pops up and Penguin box opens on oowriter
The third square opens chinese charaters by numbers
Press key A etc and only empty square boxes appear
Font Andale Sans ui
I note etc /sysconfig i18n is set for english
can only creat a second i18 if I add a separate chinese user.
Do I realy need a second user to have correct fcitx in oowriter?

hi, i'm by no means a power linux user

but i believe you need to follow the exact steps described in that thread, and it's necessary to create another user account to make it work, after a while, you can do some tweaks, i, for instance, use the 2nd user account all the time, it's still english environment, but it brings up fcitx menu whenever i hit space key to allow me to type chinese

1st user account allows you to use fcitx without actually login 2nd account, but you'll need to 'su' into 2nd account and type Fcitx & oowriter or fcitx & opera or whatever the application name you wanna to work with fcitx

Hi Xiongnu
Font MS Song works with fcitx.
Have not made a second user as chinese characters are now available.
The Pengin box does not have a help file it is a case of trial and error
notice it will stay on desktop can not switch it off, if you do not shut it down in oowriter.
MS Song font have yet to discover how to make it the default not to worry.
CTRL+Space works but have more to learn how to fully use fcitx.
How are you progressing with fcitx?
Regards
Maurice
