Errors when installing mandrake 9.2


Hi all,
When installing mandrake 9.2 the installation screen gets just after testing of the mouse and an error occurs.

I can click ok and continue but is the error serious or not please help.

the errror is as follows:

insmod'ing module pdc-ultra failed at /usr/bin/perl-install/modules.pm
line 408

Any help whould be great

Hmmm ... sounds like a bad CD. Did you check the md5sum for the ISO's you downloaded?

Got the DVD from a Mag called linux format.

It seems since i got my amd64 with my new keyboard this error occurs.

could this be related?

I could be wrong, but don't you need the AMD64 version?

Naaa

It supports amd whether its 32 or 64 bit.
Might only run at 32 bit until i install the apropricate (software) and recompile the kernel.


o well guess i need to move onto another Linux distro.....

I think Baldrick is right.

Why did Mandrake make such a fanfare about the new amd64 version if it wasn't different and needed for users with amd64 ?

By the way I got the same disk from the same mag and it worked fine (I'm not amd64 tho) .

I told ya I could be wrong ... but also, it wouldn't be the first time a CD / DVD from a mag was a dud.
